Ruby Throated Hummingbirds

Spent just a few days in the summer heat over the red bee balm as a group of four or five Ruby-throated Hummingbirds flew in and out of the area chasing, dive-bombing, and harassing one another.

During the summer, the hummingbirds are one of my go-to photo treks. This year did not disappoint. A group spent all its time battling over a small patch of red bee balm here in South Dakota.

The photo opportunities were abundant. But, like most hummingbird photos, the keeper rate of images was not. Simply because, they just never seem to slow down, especially when there are multiple birds.

Always enjoyable. Always a challenge.

Enjoy the photos and (attempted) video clips.
