The summer brings with it hummingbirds and countless opportunities and attempts to capture their beauty. As the summer winds down, the ruby-throated hummingbirds get more active as they feed and prepare for migration south. They also grow more feisty and territorial. One male won’t let another stay in one place for too long without swooping in and pushing him out. Each summer Bill sets out on a quest to capture a sharp photo of two males in a single frame as they chase one another around. It hasn’t happened yet, but the shots captured in the interim make it a worthy pursuit.
