Nestled just outside the city limits of Sioux Falls, SD, surround by urban growth, sits a patch of land which is a favorite spot of white-tailed deer and Bill. Due to development in the area, the deer aren't as common as they once were. Regardless, as the days get shorter, Bill sets out on autumn evening drives through the area in search of bucks. Sometimes he finds them. Sometimes there's nothing. On a particularly unlucky night, he gave up and left for home. It was just as twilight was wrapping that this guardian of the hilltop made his presence known and Bill was able to capture this photo. The image is underexposed, giving it dramatic orange colors, and creating the silhouette effect.
